What is Water Engineering?

Water is one of our planet’s fundamental, natural assets and our engineers ensure that this precious resource is managed in the most sustainable way possible, whether it is at a building, masterplan or city scale.

We specialise in identifying innovative solutions to ensure maximum, sustainable performance. Practising expertise in cloud-to-coast engineering we deliver sustainable civil engineering solutions across the globe, from the earliest stages of project feasibility, through the planning stages, to detailed design and site supervision.

What sort of projects would I work on?

Arriyadh Stormwater Masterplan, RiyadhThe Riyadh Municipality commissioned local engineering consultants to assess the baseline stormwater infrastructure for the city of Riyadh, and to propose a masterplan to upgrade and extend the storm drainage network to serve the rapidly expanding city’s urban development. We undertook a thorough review of hydrology using our extensive knowledge of the Riyadh area, including a comprehensive hydrological review of the Wadi Hanifah and Wadi Sulay catchments that receive both urban stormwater discharge, and runoff from the rural catchments beyond the city limits.

The London 2012 Olympic And Paralympic Games, UKOur integrated approach to water management and infrastructure design in order to recycle grey and black water and re-use it for irrigation, reduced the potable water demand at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Wadi Hanifah Flood Management Plan, RiyadhWe undertook a detailed site appraisal of over half of the wadi network, mapping and recording all assets and features that were at risk from flooding. The output from this modelling has given the ADA the most detailed flood mapping ever produced for Riyadh, which will be used by the city for development control purposes. Using the results of this detailed flood risk analysis, we have also developed a detailed rainfall and flood monitoring system. This has allowed us to define and specify a flood warning system which the city can use to guide their Civil Defence team to the most appropriate response during flood events, significantly improving their disaster management capability.
