Job Description

A unique opportunity for an ambitious and technologically inquisitive Senior BIM Technician to take a lead role in the structural technician team, assuming responsibility for BIM standards, training, development and collaboration with other BuroHappold offices on projects around the globe. 

This role will see you operating at the forefront of digital design technology amongst a global community of engineers and BIM professionals.

Due to our continued growth, we are seeking to appoint a Senior BIM Technician into our Mumbai Structures team to help lead the technician team and facilitate the continued development of its BIM capability. 

About the role...

You will coordinate and own the application of BIM technology for the structures team in Mumbai, influencing projects and BIM development at a regional level. In this sense, whilst the role is intended to be primarily project based with the majority of time spent leading project production work, there will also be scope to expand into multidisciplinary BIM Management of projects and as a member of the regional BIM team to assert influence with regard to regional BIM development.

Naturally this a varied role, but responsibilities can typically be expected to comprise:

  • Produce BIM models as per project requirements 
  • Drawing/detail production from Engineers sketches and from scratch using architectural drawings and or concepts. 
  • Take responsibility for drawing issues and daily housekeeping in terms of both digital and hard copy project file storage. 
  • To develop, lead and assist project teams in BIM project set up.
  • To implement BIM training modules for key staff and maintain training course ware.
  • To participate in the process of developing BIM standards for projects across BuroHappold.
  • To develop and maintain Revit content libraries through creation of families, etc.
  • To provide guidance and assistance with design projects to ensure they are setup and progress optimally, and teams are using Revit appropriately.
  • Ability and willingness to work remotely with colleagues in other offices, and on occasion, if required, to travel to those locations for briefing or co-ordination meetings. 

About you...

As an experienced BIM professional, it is expected that you can demonstrate the following...

  • Relevant industry experience as a Structural Technician working on a range of projects.
  • Ability to prepare general arrangement, section, 3D and detailed drawings.
  • Experience in modelling structural geometry, structural framing layouts & sections,  drawings sheets.
  • Clash detection and coordination of all services in Revit & Navisworks.
  • Revit content creation: Parametric families using formulae, nesting and type catalogs.
  • Integration of Revit products with other applications (AutoCAD, Quantity Takeoff, clash detections etc.)
  • Willingness to learn new skills and software plus attendance of upgrade training according to industry requirements. 
  • Good leadership and influencing skills. 
  • Degree or Diploma in Civil/ structural engineering.
