Working within the Economic Infrastructure team of the Consultancy Business Group this role will work across a wide range of sectors, supporting the development and appraisal of business plans for a wide range initiatives being developed by the wider engineering teams within the company as well as working directly for external clients including private investors, public sector promoters, and multilateral funders.

 What will I be doing?

  • Developing appraisal frameworks to help guide BH design teams on the optimal solution as they develop solutions for clients
  • Working with discounted cash flow models to assess the business case for new infrastructure investment
  • Undertaking wider socio-economic evaluations of projects to support funding applications
  • Developing revenue forecast models based on demand and tariff principles  

What can I bring to the role? 

  • A proven track record of project evaluation and/or investment business case development.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Five (5) to fifteen (15) years of working experience in infrastructure projects, including regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of alternative procurement practices and economic principles.
  • University level qualification is expected in a relevant subject (i.e. economics, maths, statistics, engineering or environment)
  • Experience of working Internationally is a must
  • Ideally a Self-Starter, comfortable prioritising own workload and working independently.  

 Required Skills

Demonstrate evidence of spreadsheet modelling good practice, have experience of using spreadsheet based discounted cash flow models, a technical understanding of at least one regulated infrastructure sector (energy, waste, water, transport, etc), and experience working within multi-disciplinary teams.  

Desirable skills

An understanding of accounting or project finance principles, familiarity with the UK Treasury “Green Book”, an ability to work in at least one language in addition to English, familiarity with the latest technology developments and their impact on business case analysis, and first hand experience working on Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects.
