We are looking for a high potential Senior Consultant with a background in urban planning who working as part of a dynamic team will shape creative solutions to address the challenges facing cities around the world.

In keeping with our technical background, all of our analysis and strategy development is underpinned by the full range of deep infrastructure design,  engineering and environmental analysis available across our practice.

What will I be doing?

  • Developing tailored consulting technical solutions; ensuring the delivery of exceptional cradle to grave support to clients, delivering an approach that adapts to their understanding, experience and needs
  • Main project lead taking ownership of the financial and technical success of the projects whilst strengthening the client relationships and repeat business opportunities.
  • Contributing towards innovation, technical capability and skills development initiatives and programmes.
  • Monitors and manages the successful delivery of projects in this context and in terms of technical quality, timely delivery, financial performance and client satisfaction.
  • Contribute to developing an active pipeline of Strategic Planning business opportunities aligned with the business plan.
  • Maintaining an accurate picture of current and future market trends in order to establish and continuously improve our offering across the Sector
  • Accountable for effective business and project planning on projects where Project Leader; and supporting own direct reports to deliver in this respect.

What can I bring to the role?

  • Breadth of perspective and an ability to provide strategic consultancy advice including in relation to integrated urban development and strategic spatial planning projects.
  • Experience of working with UK and preferably internationally supporting public and private sector clients.
  • An understanding of urban/city challenges and the value of providing a spatial understanding and integrated offer (including planning, economics, and technical infrastructure and environmental expertise).   
  • Awareness and understanding of what it takes to deliver effective and viable client outcomes.
  • Project leadership and management skills with a track record of exceptional technical delivery (5+ years post qualification experience).
  • Effective stakeholder management and engagement skills
  • A team player effective in high performing multi-discipline project teams.
  • Experience of work winning and ability to build relationships with public and private sector clients.
  • Capacity to innovate and work at the leading edge of our industry evidenced through involvement in incubation and application of new solutions, thought leadership and applied research and development activities.

Desirable Experience

Specialist technical and sector expertise in a number of the following areas:

  • Strategic advisory for urban plans, programmes and projects
  • Preparation of national, regional and city scale planning frameworks
  • Development planning and masterplanning of large scale mixed use developments
  • Urban regeneration and retrofit programmes
  • Urban resilience, climate change mitigation and adaptation, strategic environmental management and sustainable development. Infrastructure planning and business case for economic, social and green infrastructure programmes and projects.
  • Planning for economic development including special economic zones and industrial masterplanning.
  • Real estate transaction advisory and financial appraisal
  • Tourism and destination development.
  • Smart city programmes and digitally enabled planning solutions.
  • Foreign language skills desirable
  • Interest in working internationally and a willingness to travel.
  • Demonstrate cultural awareness and ability to work across a wide range of geographies.


  • Essential - Degree in a field allied to strategic urban planning such as geography, town planning, social science, environmental science, engineering or architecture.
  • Essential - Masters degree in urban planning or directly related field
  • Desirable - Professional Chartership to the Royal Town Planning Institute, international equivalent or other built environment professional body.
