About the role:

You will operate within the German and European market and contribute to projects within the region. This position will be located in the Berlin office, but will require travelling throughout the region to see these projects through to fruition. You will be expected to collaborate with engineers from within the Berlin office and other BuroHappold offices across a wide range of specialist disciplines.

Your tasks will include:

  • Develop new GLT and Smart Building standards for TGA (Technische Gebäudeausrüstung) projects
  • Prepare and take responsibility for concept and schematic engineering solutions and for detail design
  • Prepare technical specifications
  • Operate and competently work on an independent basis
  • Communicate directly with clients
  • Assist the Project Directors to prepare technical and financial proposals for new work
  • Assist the Project Leader to monitor job resourcing and expenditure
  • Check / verify other team members work
  • Be alive to new project opportunities and activities across multi disciplinary projects
  • Contribute to setting up and management of job / project administrative systems
  • Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service / design decisions and the objectives of the client are achieved
  • Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client’s best interests and that BuroHappold policy is in keeping with current legislation, international standards and codes of practice

Your profile: 

As an experienced Smart Building / Building Managment System (BMS) Consultant, it is expected that you have the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Smart Building / Building Managment System (BMS) job leader across a range of projects (min. 10 years of relevant work experience)
  • Experienced BMS (GLT; Gebäudeleittechnik / MSR; Messen, Steuern, Regeln) expert in a broad range of building sectors
  • Expert understanding of new Smart Building Technologies, including integrated GLT, Lighting, ICT and data communications within buildings
  • Comprehensive knowledge of TGA building services systems in buildings
  • Capability to develop concept and detailed design specifications for Smart Buildings
  • Dipl. Ing./MEng Engineering or equivalent degree qualification
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in the German and English language
  • Ability to develop detail design, using BIM REVIT and TRICK software
  • Ability to take the lead in challenging situations
  • Potential to consult and manage clients and to run projects successfully
  • Good level of understanding of multi-disciplinary building design
