At BuroHappold Engineering, our Transport and mobility team advise our clients on the creation of a quality travel experience through the development and delivery of a range of solutions, managing the demand for travel and embracing the principles of mobility as a service.

We offer full service transport planning consultancy from concept to detailed design taking our clients through the full planning process where necessary.

We are also able to draw on services of other specialist consultants from across the company to provide additional support on a range of complementary support including highway engineering, environmental, waster, sustainability, water, bridges and structures.

We are now looking for a dynamic Transport Planner to join our Transport & Mobility team in Bath to work on a diverse range of fascinating projects that cover urban development, infrastructure planning and design, resource management, and programme delivery, our Cities business unit is at the forefront of innovation in the urban environment.

Recent Projects include:

Landmark House - BuroHappold Engineering’s transport and mobility engineers were commissioned by Eastern & Oriental plc (E&O) to provide Transport Planning Consultancy services for this redevelopment site in the centre of Hammersmith, London.

Tottenham HFC - This project is the perfect example of our engineers’ ability to ‘think laterally’ to find solutions that work for our client. Not only will the new Tottenham Hotspur FC stadium offer fans a better experience and increase profitability for our client, the design has proved so inspiring it has catalysed a wider regeneration scheme across Haringey so that the surrounding area can better support this incredible venue.

HBKMC - Working closely with the wider project team to create the masterplan, BuroHappold Engineering developed a comprehensive, phased transport strategy for the development, as well as a detailed parking study of the existing complex arrangements on site.

What will I be doing?

  • Working within a dynamic transport team on projects that range from individual developments to city scale networks
  • Contribute to sound financial and technical submissions/proposals for new work; attending interviews.
  • Assist in the development of technical innovations that respond to the rapidly changing transport and mobility planning market.
  • Taking responsibility for the delivery of smaller projects and individual elements of larger projects.
  • Assisting in the mentoring and training of graduates.
  • Working towards obtaining professional qualifications within the relevant professional institution

What can I bring to the role?

  • Minimum 2 year’s relevant experience post graduation as a Transport Planner within a consultancy environment.
  • Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organisation, combined with ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • An understanding of a range of transport planning techniques such as travel demand forecasting, transport policy context and outline scheme design.
  • An understanding of masterplanning concepts to encourage sustainable travel and smart city planning
  • An understanding of transport modelling software, also experience of using GIS within the transport environment would be an advantage
  • An appreciation of transport mobility and the factors affecting it. 
  • International project experience would be desirable
  • Experience in any/all of the follow highway/public realm/public transport facilities/logistics facilities design would be an advantage

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline - e.g.  Civil Engineering, Town Planning, Geography etc.
